For many reasons, I am glad 2009 is now in the rear view mirror. I always prefer to look to the good and 2009 had its good moments for the D'Attoma's as well. The year started off with the birth of Dylan. He is truly a blessing but poor Amy had a terrible time and we almost lost her. It was a tough year for Amy and it ended with open heart surgery, which we all are grateful has corrected her "enlarged" heart and should help her live a normal life, whatever that is! Brendan is now 3 and a lot of fun. Ben is a great dad, husband and son in law. He is the best!
2009 was a tough year for the fine wine business and it caused our business to struggle to the point that made my move to St. Louis and Premier Cru a mistake. I left my position in September and have dedicated my time to establishing the Sexually Abused Children's Relief Endeavor, sacred. At the end of 2009, all of our set up costs have been paid and we can begin 2010 with a positive balance and ready to help.
Michael got married and changed jobs in 2009. He and Sarah now live in Lexington, South Carolina, where Michael is the Director of Student Ministery at Northside Baptist, a church community of 3000. They just purchased their first home.
John is still working on his masters at St. John's U in Rome, Italy and seems to be in a serious relationship with Sonya, who is Italian and does not speak english.
Alyson is still amazing, running a whirlwind life with four beautiful girls. She is very active in her church and can always be counted on to help someone else. No matter how tough her life is, she always finds the time to be a caring soul for someone else more needy.
Blake is still living in KC and has begun to jam again, playing bass. He, too, is a terrific young man and being back in Missouri has given us the opportunity to see him more often too.
Carol is terrific and this year will be out 10th Anniversary. WOW! We are truly hoping that 2010 will bring some stability to our life as the frequent moves and job changes has taken its toll on us. as I said, 2009 has had it's blessings- Amy's improved heart, the arrival of Dylan, seeing all our kids and grandkids on a regular basis, easier trips to KC to see family and friends, sacred and #27 for the NY Yankees!
